The Toronto Blue Jays have been working the phones attempting to improve the team's roster and according to ESPN, the Blue Jays are likely linked two starting pitcher Jack Flaherty.

ICYMI: I wrote about whether starting pitcher Jack Flaherty would make sense for the 2025 Blue Jays @thejaysnation

Flaherty Is the ex-Los Angeles Dodger and former World Series champion who is now a free agent and is looking for a new home.
The Blue Jays are searching for a new starting pitcher as there is a strong possibility the organization will move Yariel Rodriguez to the bullpen which will open a position in the rotation.

Flaherty had strong season despite some injury issues

David Schoenfield thinks that Flaherty's new salary will will not come close to his $115 million forecast.
"Flaherty remains unsigned. At this point, it seems unlikely he'll get anything close to that $115 million forecast -- and maybe that's not so surprising.

From 2021 to 2023, he made just 50 starts with a 4.35 ERA as he battled injuries and control problems.

He got off to a hot start with Detroit last season (2.95 ERA, 7.0 SO/BB ratio) but tailed off after his trade to the Los Angeles Dodgers (3.58 ERA, 3.21 SO/BB ratio)," Schoenfield wrote." - David Schoenfield ESPN

During game one of the World Series against the New York Yankees, Flaherty was strong and pitched a great game which shows that he still has plenty of game left
despite some injury issues.
If the Blue Jays signed Alex Bregman and Jack Flaherty this would be a really successful offseason, especially with all the players they've already missed out on. They could at least be somewhat competitive in the East as well.

Blue Jays need more depth in roster before Opening Day

Blue Jays general manager Ross Atkins had spoke recently in a press conference stating that he along with mark Shapiro and the rest of the management team are working diligently to try to upgrade the team prior to Opening Day.
The Blue Jays have been linked to several players including pitchers like free agents Max Scherzer, Flaherty and Nick Pivetta. Other players that have been mentioned who could be heading to the Blue Jays organization are Alex Bregman and Pete Alonso as the free agent pool continues to dwindle.
This off season has not gone according to plan and it's safe to say that Atkins along with Shapiro will be judged on how this team looks once the season begins and whether ownership should consider running it back again next season or looking for a new front office.
