Mark Feinsand states that the Blue Jays are the clear front runners to land Max Scherzer
The Blue Jays have apparently been interested in Scherzer for about two months now even though talks between the two parties has only seriously picked up over the last couple weeks.
Many teams seem interested in Scherzer but none as much as the Blue Jays who have apparently made him an offer of a $15 million contract on a 1 year deal which could be very interesting.
A number of teams have been loosely connected to Scherzer this winter, though the Blue Jays appear to be the most serious about signing him, sources said. -Feinsand
Scherzer would be a great addition to the Blue Jays rotation with Kevin Gausman, Jose Berrios, Bowden Francis, Chris Bassitt and Yariel Rodriguez if he is not moved to the bullpen.
Scherzer would join Kevin Gausman, José Berrios and Chris Bassitt in the rotation for Toronto, which also has Bowden Francis and Yariel Rodriguez among its starting options. -Feinsand
The biggest issue will be proving to Scherzer that the Blue Jays are serious about winning which is why adding Alonso to the lineup would seriously prove that which would likely help land Scherzer.
The good news is that the Blue Jays are the front runners when it comes to who will land him but nothing is done just yet.
If the Blue Jays can close on Alonso, there is a high likely Scherzer ends up in Toronto.
