Toronto Blue Jays fans have been wondering who will be the team's leadoff hitter this season which manager John Schneider commented on this morning.

There has been a lot of chatter that George Springer will likely lose his spot as the team's leadoff hitter after how poorly he hit last season despite being one of the best leadoff hitters of all-time.

Blue Jays manager John Schneider confirms George Springer has some serious competition for the leadoff spot

Springer is coming off the worst offensive season of his career in 2024 as he finished with 19 homeruns, 56 RBIs, a .220 batting average and .303 on base percentage.
Schneider told reporters this morning that Springer will see some time in left field this season, he also mentioned that Springer will have competition for the leadoff spot as the team is also looking at Bo Bichette, Will Wagner and Andres Gimenez for the spot.
John Schneider says that George Springer will see some time in left field this season. He and Santander could go back and forth between LF-RF depending on matchups.

He mentions Springer alongside Bichette, Wagner and Gimenez as leadoff options. #BlueJays
Due to Springer's obvious offensive decline over the last two years, it makes sense that the Blue Jays are looking to see who can replace him as the team's leadoff hitter since even last season he was hitting in the 6th and 7th spot for a period of time.
The ideal situation for the Blue Jays would be to get rid of Springer but due to his poorly aging contract, doing that might be extremely difficult since he has one of the worst contracts in the MLB.
The best options would be to put either Wagner or Bichette at leadoff as both would be a perfect fit for the role especially if Bichette is able to return to the offensive threat he was prior to last season.
It will be interesting to see what the order looks like on Opening Day but there is a good chance Springer is not number one.
