The Toronto Blue Jays have yet to sign Vladimir Guerrero Jr to a contract extension and apparently their big time rivals, the Boston Red Sox have been calling about the first baseman.
Guerrero is headed into the final year of his contract in 2025 and while fans are hoping the team will offer him a contract extension since he clearly wants to stay in Toronto, that might not be the case after all.
The Boston Red Sox have come calling about trading for Vladimir Guerrero Jr
DEVELOPING: The Boston #Redsox have inquired about Toronto #BlueJays 1st baseman Vlad Guerrero Jr. Talks are still early but could we see Vlad in Boston
The Blue Jays have yet too give any information regarding Guerrero's contract extension which is why many believe they are willing to entertain a trade offer from the Red Sox.
When asked at the GM meetings, Ross Atkins simply told reporters that he is happy for Guerrero regarding his 2024 season and that he is an incredible player.
While trading Guerrero would likely have a massive return, there is no chance that they will be able to get a player of his caliber in return and this might end up as the worst trade in Blue Jays history.
The Blue Jays will not be able to land any big time free agents if they are not even able to keep their best player in Toronto as it will show free agents they are not serious about winning.
