Blue Jays are hiring David Bell as VP baseball operations and assistant GM, industry source tells me and
@bnicholsonsmith
Bell was most recently the manager for the Cincinnati Reds for the last 6 years until he was fired at the end of the season and it looks like he has decided to try out working in a team's front office.
Congratulations to David Bell, who is being hired by the Toronto Blue Jays as their new vice president/baseball operations and assistant GM, per
@bnicholsonsmith
and
@ShiDavidi
. Bell, dismissed in September by the Cincinnati Reds after 6 years as manager, is widely considered as one of the nicest, most genuine people in the game.
While Bell does not have any experience as a assistant GM or VP of baseball operations, he has been around the game of baseball for a long time as both a player and a manager and could definitely help Ross Atkins moving forward.
