The Toronto Blue Jays are still looking at all options to make a splash in the off-season and according to reports, they are interested in bringing back Santiago Espinal.

The Blue Jays have been quite quiet throughout the off-season so far as they have yet to announce a signing major or minor league in 2025 and even before that it has been multiple weeks.

The Blue Jays seem to be interested in bringing Santiago Espinal back to Toronto

The Cincinnati Reds have an abundance of infielders and have now recently acquired Gavin Lux which is why they are looking to move Espinal this off-season.
According to reports, the Blue Jays would be interested in bringing Espinal back to Toronto in a trade with the Reds which could be an interesting deal as it would likely not cost the Blue Jays much.
The Blue Jays already have Andres Gimenez at second base and Bo Bichette at shortstop. Though they have a need at third base, they have potential internal options already including Will Wagner, Ernie Clement and Addison Barger. -Farkas

The Blue Jays do already have a second baseman but it looks like they could be interested in moving him over to third base and have Ernie Clement move over to shortstop but they would need to trade Bo Bichette first.
Espinal is far from a offensive threat, especially last season in Cincinnati but the Blue Jays could look at trading for him to add another solid defender to their roster for next season.
He spent three years with Toronto in all, making the American League All-Star Team in 2022. That season, he played in a career-high 135 games, posting a 2.2 WAR and hitting .267 with seven homers and 51 RBI. -Farkas

This would be an interesting move for the Blue Jays but it will only make sense if they are able to add at least one solid hitter in free agency because if not they will have the same problem in 2025 that they did in 2024/
