Toronto Blue Jays manager John Schneider gave an incredibly positive update on shortstop Bo Bichette this morning while meeting with the media.
Bichette is coming off the worst season in his career in 2024 where he struggled at the plate and also dealt with a ton of injuries which allowed him to only play in 81 games last season.
John Schneider gives positive injury update regarding shortstop Bo Bichette
Bichette was hit by a pitch in late September 2024 which resulted in a broken finger which needed surgery to repair it in which a metal rod was placed in his hand to help him recovery.
This morning John Schneider stated that the rod was removed some time ago and that
Bichette is back at full strength which Schneider believes will be massive for the team's offense this season.
Bo Bichette (finger) is also full go. Pin removed long ago and feels normal, he said.
«Bo looks like Bo, which is really, really refreshing,» said Schneider. «We kind of operated without one of best bats last year in Bo. So having him back is going to be big.»
This is good news for the Blue Jays because having Bichette back in the lineup and healthy can be a massive benefit but fans are hoping that he returns to his usual self at the place as last season was a disaster.
The Blue Jays are in an interesting situation with
Bichette as he is entering the final year of his deal but the only mention of an extension came last season when there were rumors that he did not want to re-sign in Toronto.
It will be interesting to see what ends up happening with Bichette as they could end up extending him, trading him before the deadline or simply keeping him until free agency next winter.
Regardless of what happens, the Blue Jays need to make sure that they do not end up losing both Bichette and Guerrero next season as that would be the end of the Blue Jays future for at least 5 years.
