The Toronto Blue Jays seem to have figured out what they plan on doing with superstar Vladimir Guerrero Jr after being unable to sign him to a contract extension.

A couple weeks ago news broke that the Blue Jays and Guerrero were unable to reach an agreement on a contract extension as the team was not willing to meet his asking price which is why he confirmed that he will be entering free agency next year.

Since missing out on a contract extension with Guerrero, many have been wondering if the Blue Jays will keep him for the entire season or end up trading him to get a return before losing him for nothing to free agency.
Bleacher Report's Kerry Miller recently stated that the Blue Jays are expected to keep Guerrero for the entire season as they want to make a serious push at winning a World Series this season.

Miller believes that after all the moves they have made this off-season such as acquiring Andres Gimenez, Max Scherzer, Jeff Hoffman and Anthony Santander, the team will not trade him before the end of the season.
"Now, the big question has become whether he'll still be with the Blue Jays in August, or whether they'll be far enough out of contention to put what would be a massive several-month rental on the trade block, a la Manny Machado in 2018," Miller wrote. "They're not going to trade him before the season, though.

"That ship sailed when they invested in the likes of Andrés Giménez, Anthony Santander, Jeff Hoffman, and Max Scherzer. After all those additions, they're surely at least going to try to contend through the All-Star break before even considering any sort of exit strategy." -Miller

The only chance of the Blue Jays trading away Guerrero seems to be if they are way out of a playoff spot by the trade deadline and try to at least get some kind of return before losing him next off-season.
This will likely depend on how competitive the Blue Jays are at the trade deadline. If they find themselves in a race for the division title or a postseason berth, there's no way they'll trade Guerrero. -Pressnell

If the Blue Jays end up having another let down of a season, this could all end up being one big disaster as they will not get much in return for Guerrero as a rental to whichever team they trade him to.
