The Toronto Blue Jays contract details with newly signed outfielder Anthony Santander has finally been announced and it looks like they took a page out of the Los Angeles Dodgers book and have the majority of the contract deferred.
The Blue Jays announced earlier this week that they signed their biggest contract of the off-season when they landed Anthony Santander on a five year deal worth $92.5 million.

The Los Angeles Dodgers have been notorious over the past couple season for signing these massive deals but deferring the majority of the contract which the Blue Jays seem to have taken notes on.
The Blue Jays announced that out of Santander's $92.5 million contract, there will be $61.75 million of it that will be deferred payments.

Additional details on his contract were also announced as it looks like there will be an opt out of the contract in the third year following the 2027 season plus a team option in the six year for an additional $17.5 million.
Santander has the right to opt out of the contract following the 2027 season to become a free agent again, but if he opts out, Toronto can void the decision by guaranteeing an additional $17.5 million that would increase the deal to $110 million over six seasons. -The Canadian Press
