The Blue Jays claim pitcher Michael Peterson from the Miami Marlins as they put two other pitchers on waivers

The Blue Jays are looking to make some big changes in their bullpen for the upcoming season and it looks like moves have already begun as they look to make room for signings.

The Blue Jays announced that they claimed Peterson from the Marlins off waivers while they decided to place pitchers Luis Frias and Genesis Cabrera on waivers which both cleared, making them free agents.

Peterson might be an interesting option for the Blue Jays bullpen in 2025 since he put up some excellent numbers in Triple-A last season but in his short time in the majors, he struggled immensely.

Frias being placed on waivers does not come as a surprise since he had very rough seasons last year and as the Blue Jays look to improve their bullpen, getting rid of him was a must. Cabrera on the other hand had a decent year in Toronto which most thought he would surely be returning in 20255.

Hopefully Blue Jays general manager Ross Atkins knows what he is doing as the Blue Jays will need to do a lot if they plan on truly competing next season and avoiding another disappointing season.
