Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Easton Lucas was on the mound in a brutal loss against the Seattle Mariners yesterday and John Schneider spoke of the team's plan with the pitcher moving forward.

Lucas has been with the Blue Jays since the first week of the season despite not making the Opening Day roster as Max Scherzer went down with an injury on the third game of the season.

John Schneider speaks on Blue Jays plan regarding Easton Lucas moving forward

Lucas came right into the lineup to replace Scherzer and was off to an incredible start in the major leagues as many fans though the team found a diamond in the rough but over his last two games, he has been brutal.
Yesterday, Lucas was pulled after only 1.2 innings pitched as he gave up 7 hits and 6 earned runs in that time and after the game, John Schneider spoke on the team's plan regarding him moving forward.
Suprisingly, Schneider announced that the Blue Jays had no plan on moving on from Lucas and they still see him as Scherzer's replacement since they do not want to drop to 4 starting pitchers.
John Schneider says «as of now» the Blue Jays plan to keep Easton Lucas in the rotation. They don't want to overwork their veteran starters, Schneider said.
Some might think that the Blue Jays could look towards Yariel Rodriguez but he has been quite bad as well which would be another risky move which is why they are probably deciding to stick with Lucas for now.
Paxton Schults stepped in for Lucas after his disaster and proved to be a solid option as he pitched 4 innings 2 hits and striking out 8 batters which has him looking like a possible option moving forward.
mpressive work from Paxton Schultz in his big-league debut. 3.1 scoreless IP, 6 Ks vs. SEA.

We'll see how Blue Jays handle their fifth SP spot. Easton Lucas could get another shot. Schultz could be used in some way. Or, Jays could roll with 4SP on regular rest until May 3.
It will be interesting to see what happens with Lucas in the coming weeks.
