With the off season over in the Toronto Blue Jays setting the table for Spring Training, it appears that Blue Jays prospect Addison Barger may find himself in line for a third baseman job.

Addison Barger pairs elite bat speed [74.3 MPH] with well above average exit velocities [110.2 maxEV in MLB]. He also possesses 68th percentile sprint speed and 99th percentile arm strength. His toolbox is loaded, can he unlock it in 2025?

It's become clear that Barger will be unable to compete for a starting outfielders job as the Blue Jays had gone out and acquired Anthony Santander during the offseason unless an unforeseen injury were to transpire.

Barger has a chance to land coveted position

The third base position is currently held by Ernie Clement who has not had a solid track record and could be upended by Barger. Both men have vastly different FWAR where Clement sits at 2.2 and Barger sits at -0.3 but it will still be tough for Barger to take his spot which means he might end up in the minors once again.
It became clear that Barger would likely have a tougher time finding an opportunity an opportunity to play if the Blue Jays would have been successful in signing third baseman Alex Bregman who is now a member of the Boston Red Sox.
The 25-year-old was drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays in 2018, sixth round 170 pick overall. Last season he had 208 at bats by recording seven home runs, 28 RBI's and two stolen bases with a batting average of .197 an OBP of .250 and an OPS of .601.

Blue Jays looking for help from multiple areas

General manager Ross Atkins had stated last week that it's likely the Blue Jays will attempt to make trades in order to bolster their lineup instead of signing more free agents as the bulk of all top end free agents have been signed to other teams.
Addison Barger. I will never quit believing that he'll be an impact bat someday, possibly as soon as 2025.

The Blue Jays had some success in acquiring a few free agents during the offseason but fell short with others. Which means the Blue Jays will likely look to their farm system to see if any players could be ready for the big leagues.
If Barger could find himself on third base and show that he is the right fit for the role And improve his offensive output, this would be a win for Atkins and Blue Jays management as the team continues to try to find more offense.
Only time will tell if the Blue Jays find success with Barger and catch a break after a disappointing offseason.
