Blue Jays have made a new offer to Vladimir Guerrero Jr
The Toronto Blue Jays failed to sign Guerrero to an extension earlier this off-season but were unfortunately able to get it done and while most thought nothing would happen, it looks like the situation has had a big turn around.
According to MLB reporter Mike Rodriguez, the Blue Jays have put together an offer to Guerrero worth a total of $550 million with a term of around 14 to 15 years which would be him an average salary of about $36-$39 million per season.
According to my sources, Toronto and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. are doing everything they can to reach an agreement before Opening Day. They were in discussions today, and my source says that they were talking about more than $550M for around 14 to 15 years. #Toronto #VladimirGuerreroJr
If the Blue Jays end up closing on this deal it will be by far the largest contract in Blue Jays history and will make
Guerrero the third highest paid player in the MLB only behind
Shohei Ohtani and
Juan Soto.
The goal according to multiple reports is that the Blue Jays are looking to close a deal with Guerrero before Opening Day which means they want to close this extension within the next 24 hours.
it will be interesting to see if they are able to finally get this done or if the Blue Jays will enter the season without him signed and will have to try to come to an agreement throughout the season.
The clock is ticking as the first game takes place tomorrow afternoon against the Baltimore Orioles.
