Toronto Blue Jays GM Ross Atkins calls out Bo Bichette regarding his contract extension comments

Bichette made it clear to the media that the Blue Jays had yet to have any conversations with him about a contract extension as he is entering the final year of his deal.

The Blue Jays shortstop has made it clear over the past couple days that the Blue Jays have yet to reach out to him regarding a contract extension but that he understand that their main priority is Guerrero as of right now.

Atkins basically completely contradicted what Bichette said as he claims that there has been conversations about an extension but he did not want to get into detail about when these conversations took place.

The Blue Jays GM did state that their goal with Bichette is to get a deal done as he praised the shortstop but he was far from reassuring stating that every deal is different depending on the situation.

For fans that are hoping that Bichette will be staying in Toronto, this is definitely worrying since it's never good when a GM indirectly states that a player is not telling the truth.

This situation will certainly cause a drift between the two parties but since Bichette is giving more detail on the situation, it seems as if he is the one telling the truth and Atkins is trying to hide it.

The possibility of a deal getting done is still there but this whole situation definitely does not look great.
