Toronto Blue Jays GM Ross Atkins was finally asked during an interview about the team's meeting with free agent Juan Soto but he refused to give any real details.
The Blue Jays were the first team to meet with Soto in California regarding his free agency search and reports were that the meeting went very well despite no one from the team confirming that this was the case.
Blue Jays GM Ross Atkins speaks on the team's meeting with Juan Soto
During a recent interview, Atkins was asked a ton of questions regarding the Blue Jays off-season and he did touch on the current Soto situation but unfortunately refused to give any real details.
Atkins told reporters that he refused to give any explicit details because he has too much respect for where Soto and his agent, Scott Boras, are in this process and added that all he knows is that all 30 teams are interested in him.
I have so much respect for where (Soto) is in the process, what he's accomplished in his career - to be at such a pivotal juncture - and what it means for him and his family. I also have respect for where Scott (Boras) is in this process, (so I'm) not going to comment specifically on pursuit, or lack thereof. The interest is obviously there from all 30 teams. -Atkins
This move makes sense for Atkins since he does not want to give away their hand regarding this massive signing, it is just unfortunate for Blue Jay fans that are hoping to get some kind of information on how the process is going.
Since it is expected that Soto should be signing within the next week, fans will not have to wait too much longer to find out where he will suit up next season and if that will be in Toronto.
The only information that fans will get to have high hopes for is that the Blue Jays are believed by all the teams involved in the Soto Sweepstakes to be making the highest offer on the table.
Hopefully Atkins is able to persuade Soto by making him a large offer and promising him that he will be putting together the best team possible for the 2025 season.
