The Blue Jays beat the Royals in the first game of a 4 game series which Jordan Romano closed out, giving him the 100th save of his career.
Romano has been playing exceptionally well this season for the Blue Jays since coming back from injury which fans saw again last night after another save with 1 inning pitched allowing 1 run and striking 1 batter out.
As Romano achieved this milestone of 100 career saves, he joined elite Canadian company as he is only the fourth Canadian pitcher to do so in MLB history. The only other 3 Canadian pitchers to do so are Eric Gagne with 187 saves, John Axford with 144 saves and John Hiller's 125 saves.
Congratulations to 2022 Tip O'Neill award winner on his 100th career save. Jordan is the fourth Canadian ever to get 100 or more saves. Career saves: Eric Gagne 187 John Axford 144 John Hiller 125 Jordan Romano 100
Through 4 games this season, Romano has 3 saves with a 4.50 ERA and 3 strikeouts in 4 innings pitched for the Blue Jays.
The 31 year-old is on pace for a great season and although he was injured to start the year, seems to have fully healed as he continues to pitch incredibly.
