The Blue Jays pitcher Alek Manoah has been struggling immensely since last season and it has continued this year, he finally spoke on these issues yesterday giving fans an insight into his thoughts behind everything.

Manoah was a Cy Young candidate in 2022 and had Blue Jay fans going crazy but his jump to an ace pitcher was just as quick as his downfall last season. In 2023, Manoah's ERA would have been the second worst in the entire league if he would have pitched enough innings, with a 5.87 ERA and his 1.740 WHIP would have been dead last.
This year, fans have not seen much of Manoah as he has been dealing with an injury but the little bit he has shown has not been great. The Blue Jays announced that he will be starting tonight for Buffalo tonight as part of his rehab.
The 26 year-old pitcher spoke on his struggles over the last year saying that it isn't easy when you are not meeting expectations that the team or you have for yourself. He added that he needs to step away from overthinking everything on the mound and just play his game.
«It can be frustrating when you're not helping the team and you're not out there living up to the expectations that I have for myself, not necessarily what other people have for me,» Manoah said.

«But also understanding that I need to take everything that's happening and learn from it, you know, and that's something where, right now, looking back on it, (I'm) disappointed at getting down on myself, being really hard on myself and not seeing the bigger picture." - Manoah

Hopefully Manoah can turns out things around and figure out how to get back to his form from the 2022 season but it will take a lot and he has fallen a long way from the Cy Young finalist he once was.
