Ernie Clement looks to be done in Toronto as trade offer is announced between the Diamondback and Blue Jays

The Toronto Blue Jays are still looking to make some moves this off-season and a recent offer involving Ernie Clement to the Arizona Diamondbacks has been announced.
The Blue Jays have a ton of skilled player in their infield but if they end up closing on Pete Alonso they will likely have to move someone since Vladimir Guerrero Jr will probably end up at third base.
Trade offer between the Diamondbacks and Blue Jays for Ernie Clement announced
The Blue Jays are still looking for a starting pitcher to add to their rotation and with an infield surplus if they sign Alonso, it looks like Ernie Clement could end up being traded to the Diamondbacks.
A trade offer was recently announced that would send Clement to the Diamondbacks in exchange for pitcher Jordan Montgomery.

While Montgomery did have a rough season in Arizona in 2024 as he finished with a 6.23 ERA in Arizona, the Blue Jays are apparently hopeful that he can return to the pitcher he was prior to that when his ERA was consistently below 4.00.

Another issue with signing Montgomery is that if the Diamondbacks do not send back money with him, the Blue Jays will be on the hook for $22.5 million next season and if his game does not improve, it could end in disaster.
This move could end up improving the Blue Jays starting rotation if they able to get Montgomery's game back to what it was in 2023 and before that but if he pitches the way he did last year, they will be in serious trouble.
As the Blue Jays aim for a stronger 2025, trading for Montgomery could provide them with the pitching depth needed, while Arizona may have to settle for less favorable terms to part with him. This strategic move could bolster Toronto's rotation and help maintain competitiveness in the upcoming season. -BVM Sports
