The Texas Rangers have signed for Blue Jays pitched Jesse Chavez
The Rangers announced late last night they have agreed to a minor league deal with Chavez which will also include an invitation to major league Spring Training.
We've signed RHP Jesse Chavez to a minor league contract with an invite to Major League Spring Training.
The Rangers announced that they have signed Jesse Chavez to a minor league deal with an invitation to Spring Training
The most surprising part of the deal is that
Chavez was unable to land a major league deal despite having put up solid numbers over the last few seasons but that likely has to do with his age.
This will be Chavez' second stint with the Rangers where he played in 2019 and 2020 where he had a tough stretch but since then has consistently had an ERA under 4.00.
Chavez has not played for the Blue Jays in almost 10 years as his last stint with them was back in 2016 which was his second time in Toronto as the first time came in 2012.
Despite having signed a minor league deal with the Rangers, if Chavez is able to prove in Spring Training that he is still just as solid as he was last season, he will likely secure himself a spot in the Rangers bullpen.
