The Toronto Blue Jays are closing in on signing free agent Pete Alonso and the most recent update has stated that they have now raised their offer.

The Blue Jays were said to have made Alonso a $75 million offer over three years which would pay him an average salary of $25 million per season but it looks like that number has now gone up.

The Blue Jays offer to free agent Pete Alonso has apparently now gone up

The Blue Jays have been in talks with Alonso for quite some time now and are seen by many as the favorites to land him after the Mets held a press conference in which owner Steve Cohen stated that their are pursuing other options.
According to the most recent update, the Blue Jays and Alonso are drawing in very close on finalizing a deal as they have raised their offer to $90 million on a three year term which would pay him $30 million per season.
It's late, but here's your Alonso update:

The deal I claim is done is basically set to sign. Financials in the 3/90 range. Boras and Jays waiting for Pete to get to signing.

So yes, it's not totally «done» but it's basically right there

I'll wait for the people to complain
MLB insider Steve Phillips agreed that if the Blue Jays are able to close on Alonso, fans could seriously start to have hope for this team being one of the top teams in the MLB next season.
"If they get [Pete Alonso], you can start to dream a little bit about this team. I think it's a great fit."

$30 million per season is a lot of money but then again they would be getting Pete Alonso who has been one of the best hitters in the MLB in the 2020's.
