MLB insider Ben Nicholson-Smith has confirmed that the Toronto Blue Jays have reached out to free agent pitcher Max Fried's agent as they are very interested.
The Blue Jays are in talks with Max Fried's camp as they are interested in signing him
Fried is coming off a great season with the Atlanta Braves as he was nominated to the all-star game for the second time in his career while posting a 3.25 ERA and 3.5 WAR this season.
The Blue Jays have been asking about and talking with Max Fried's representatives according to Ben Nicholson-Smith
And while there's risk in reading too much into early off-season conversations, it's at least worth noting that the Blue Jays are asking about Max Fried, the 30-year-old left-hander who posted a 3.25 ERA with Atlanta this year en route to a 3.5-WAR season. -Nicholson-Smith
The Blue Jays are looking for some help with their starting rotation, especially in terms of consistency and Fried might be a perfect fit exactly for that reason as he has had an ERA under 3.00 4 times so far in his 8 year career while going over 4.00 once.
Since Fried is one of the top free agents pitchers this off-season, the Blue Jays will definitely not be the only team going after him but if they make him a real offer and do not low ball him, they will have a chance of brining him to Toronto.
