NFL football is back back and it is that time of year that fantasy football fans get intense about their rules for the league, and for the Toronto Blue Jays, it is no different.
The Blue Jays have a team league that that is just as intense and competitive as any other. A number of Jays players such as Spencer Horwitz, Chris Bassit and George Springer spoke to CityNews reporter Lindsay Dunn to discuss the interesting rules and punishments of the league.
Bassitt stated they used the jays ground crew to race and run the bases to decide the draft order for this year.
They state that their are intense bragging rights that come a long with winning and losing the league. Just a couple years ago, former pitcher Tim Mayza came last in the league where he had to serve as the teams bat boy for a game wearing a hilarious custom jersey that showed his fantasy football record.
Erik Swanson, whose joint team with Daulton Varsho finished one win better, "announced in front of everyone that I'd be bat boy in the first three innings of the game (Saturday) as punishment for my last-place finish," according to Mayza.
"From my point of view," he added, "this was kind of dropped on me when they found out who was in last place."
There maybe intense rivalries and competition, but it all in good fun as it build strong chemistry and comradery within the team.
