Former Toronto Blue Jay and Pittsburgh Pirate Rowdy Tellez was disrespected in a major way this season after being released with 6 games left in the season due to a end of the year bonus.
The Pirates decided to release Tellez on September 24th, six days before the end of the season and the reasoning seems to be that he was four plate appearances away from receiving a $250,000 bonus on the season.

Rowdy Tellez says that he was "caught off guard" when he was DFA'd with just 6 games remaining, but understands that it is a business.
Clearly Rowdy took the professional approach to answering the questions regarding this past season in Pittsburgh since it is pretty clear that he was released due to the team not wanting to spend money.
Overall, his first season in Pittsburgh wasn't great. Tellez finished the season slashing .243/.299/.392 with 13 home runs in 421 plate appearances, down from the 35 he hit in 2022. The 29-year-old finished with a 90 wRC+ and a -0.5 fWAR. -Delaney
This will surely hurt the Pirates throughout free agency as players will think twice about signing there with how the front-office disrespected Rowdy this season.
