The Toronto Blue Jays have an off-season full of important tasks but according to Buck Martinez, the main focus should be signing Vladimir Guerrero to a new contract.
The Blue Jays have a busy winter ahead as they will need to make a ton of moves to make sure the 2025 season is no a repeat of this year. One of the biggest move that everyone seems to be agreeing on is signing Guerrero to an extension before free agency begins at the end of the post season.
If the Blue Jays could lock in a deal with Guerrero before free agency starts, they will have a better idea of what they need moving forward and how much money they have to spend.
Beloved broadcaster Buck Martinez was quick to point out that the Blue Jays need to lock in Guerrero to a new contract and all the other pieces will fall into place accordingly.
Buck Martinez believes signing Vladimir Guerrero Jr. will be the key to getting the Blue Jays back on track.
While signing Guerrero to an extension seems like the logical move especially after the season he has had plus the fact that he has stated he wants to stay in Toronto. Since Ross Atkins and Mark Shapiro are still at the helm, this is what worry's the fans since they have made some seriously bizarre moves in the past.
If the @BlueJays fail to sign Vladdy, I will be searching out a new team to follow. It's likely the one where he lands.
I believe the key to getting the Blue Jays back on track is firing Shapiro, Atkins and Schneider and then signing Vladdy!
