Bo Bichette, Daulton Varsho and Chad Green apparently met with pitcher Roki Sasaki, trying to pitch him the Toronto Blue Jays which did not end up working out.

A few days ago Sasaki was down to choosing between the Blue Jays and the Dodgers but announced on Instagram that he had picked the Dodgers despite rumors that the Blue Jays were closing him.

The Blue Jays were all in on trying to land Sasaki which is why they traded for Myles Straw's awful contract as it got them more money to offer Sasaki but unfortunately that planned backfired.
According to reports, Bichette, Varsho and Green all quietly met with Sasaki last week in hopes of convincing him to sign with the Blue Jays but unfortunately it was not enough.
There are no silver medals in free agency. That's clear. But the Blue Jays' efforts to land Roki Sasaki do reveal a lot about this organization, its players and its staff. Let's start with the players.

The most surprising part of this entire situation is that Bichette was involved since his future is very shaky with the Blue Jays but he still did his part in trying to improve the team.
It's especially noteworthy that Bichette made the trip, since he's now less than a year away from free agency and not necessarily a Blue Jay beyond 2025.

But to his credit, he did what he could for the organization, showing up to tell Sasaki that he'd be welcomed to Toronto. -Nicholson-Smith

This shows just how disappointing of an off-season it has been for Toronto as they are putting in the effort to try and land these all-star players but unfortunately continue to be unsuccessful.
As the free agent market still have a few solid players available, hopefully the Blue Jays are able to somewhat salvage their winter and get at least one of them to sign.
