Toronto Blue Jays third baseman Ernie Clement took a fastball to the face earlier this week against the Detroit Tigers and a picture of the aftermath has finally been released.
Clement took a 91 MPH fastball to the face from Ty Madden and despite the possibility of some serious damage, the team revealed that he had no concussion or serious injury and that it was just a lip contusion.
The Blue Jays nearly felt that sting with third baseman Ernie Clement, who took a fastball to the face in a spring training game against the Tigers on Monday. He was removed from the game out of the fear of a possible concussion and a lip laceration. -Dionos

The Blue Jays announced that Clement will be making his return to the Blue Jays lineup after a few days off this afternoon as they take on the Boston Red Sox.
Luckily, he was able to avoid a concussion or any fractures, and he'll make his return to the Blue Jays' lineup on Thursday against Detroit. -Dionis

A picture has been going viral on social media of Clement ass it shows just how swollen his lip truly is but despite it looking very bad, the good news is that the injury is not too serious.

Blue Jays manager John Schneider also recently confirmed that Clement is doing well and that he was lucky to avoid having a serious injury.
«Ernie is doing well,» John Schneider said, via Sportsnets' Ben Nicholson-Smith. «He dodged a bullet, literally. Well, not literally, but pretty close to literally. Just a little bit of swelling, but he's a hockey player at heart, so he's doing well.» -Schneider
