Former Toronto Blue Jays third baseman Justin Turner ripped into his former team, the Seattle Mariners, during an interview with Bob Nightengale this afternoon.

Turner finally signed a new deal a few weeks ago with the Chicago Cubs worth $6 million on a one year term after not getting a ton of attention throughout the off-season.

Turner was trade by the Blue Jays at last year's trade deadline for outfielder RJ Schreck and Seattle made a solid push for the playoffs after the deadline but ended up falling short.
During the interview, Turner stated that the Mariners had a terrible off-season since they were one win away from making the playoffs and instead of pushing to go and get a solid hitter, they simply did nothing.
«The fact that they missed the playoffs by one game, and didn't go out and add an impact bat or two when you have the best pitching staff in baseball," former Mariners infielder Justin Turner told USA TODAY Sports, «just seems absurd to me." -Turner

Turner admitted that he wanted to return to Seattle and was in talks with the team but ended choosing Chicago instead, most likely because they made a bigger offer.
Turner, who spent the last two months of the season with the Mariners after being traded from Toronto, badly wanted to return. He fell in love with the city. Adored the people. Dug the Pacific Northwest vibe. And thoroughly enjoyed playing for manager Dan Wilson. -Nightengale

The Mariners offer was apparently not high enough to ignore the Cubs offer at $6 million which is why he finally signed at the end of the off-season.
He waited all winter for the Mariners to make a respectful offer, but instead was left signing a one-year, $6 million deal with the Chicago Cubs after the start of spring training. -Nightengale

Clearly Turner does not think the Mariners did enough this off-season to improve their team which many fans seem to agree with.
