The Toronto Blue Jays announced that they have hired one of their former players as a new coach as former pitcher Juan Nunez will be joining their staff.
The Blue Jays have seen quite the turnover in their staff across the board this off-season as they have hired a ton of new coaches with a select few keeping their positions.
The Blue Jays hire one of their former players in Juan Nunez as a new coach
The Blue Jays announced last night that they have hired a new coach in Juan Nunez who was a pitcher in their organization for almost 10 years before moving on to the Kansas City Monarchs.
Congratulations to former Monarch, Juan Nunez, on accepting a coaching position in the Toronto Blue Jays organization.
We wish him nothing but the best!
Nunez pitched in the Blue Jays minor league system from 2014 when he signed up until last season when he was released in August and went over to the American Association of professional Baseball to play for the Kansas City Monarchs.
The 29 year old pitcher's best season surprisingly came last year where he pitched 10.1 innings in Double-A finishing with a 2.53 ERA and throughout all his years with the organization, he never made it to a higher level than Double-A.
Nunez is now rejoining the organization but now as a coach yet the team has not announced what his role will be but since he was a pitcher, he will likely have a role in the pitching staff.
Since Nunez is only 29 years old and already getting into the coaching world, he could likely end up having a long career since he is getting into it at such a young age.
It will be interesting to see how he develops through the years and if he ends up getting a bigger position in the years to come.
