News has just broke that San Diego Padres second baseman Tucupita Marcano is facing a lifetime ban from baseball after the MLB got news of him gambling on MLB games.

According to reports, the MLB received information that when Marcano was playing for the Pirates last season he was supposedly betting on games.
San Diego Padres infielder Tucupita Marcano is facing a potential lifetime ban for betting on baseball, sources tell ESPN.

While Major League Baseball's investigation into Marcano is not complete, a penalty, as

and

reported, could be imminent.
The MLB has yet to announce the official penalty but according to rule 21, any player who bets on his own team is subject to a lifetime ban.
There has been no additional information as to if he was betting on the Pirates to win or lose.
Marcano has yet to play this season with the Padres as he was still recovering from a season ending injury from last year.
