The Toronto Blue Jays are looking to make a big splash in free agency this winter as they are hoping to make a big turn around in the 2025 season with a ton of new players.
The Blue Jays front-office from mark Shapiro to Ross Atkins have mentioned on multiple occasions that they want to be competing for a World Series next year which would be a massive change of pace from missing the playoffs in 2024.
Blue Jays have their eyes on 6 players in free agency
Must read on Blue Jays Insider
Rumor already has it that the Blue Jays have some serious interest in Soto. As the top player on the market and one of the best hitters in baseball, Soto is due for a massive payday. He might completely drain a budget dry, but he's proven he's worth every penny. -Mountz
Then there's Orioles Anthony Santander who is another big time hitter and could be a great option but only if they do not end up signing Juan Soto because bringing both in would be unlikely and not a great move.
The Blue Jays are also in need of another solid starting pitcher which could be Corbin Burnes who is the top pitcher on the free agent market and is likely to land a massive deal heading into 2025.
As the top arm on the market, Burnes will command a pricey sum for a contract. The Blue Jays, in their win-now position, are desperate for game-changing talent and are looking to make a splash. If they can land Burnes, it may be a difference-making decision that leads them to the postseason. -Mountz
Padres Jurickson Profar is another player coming off a career year and could be quite the bargain in free agency since he ended the season in a slight slump but still put up great numbers.
Finally there is Alex Bregman who would be a perfect fit since the Blue Jays are looking for a third baseman if Ernie Clement ends up being moved to shortstop and Bregman could be the answer.
In terms of free agents to avoid, there are many option s but the two standouts are Justin Verlander and Shane
Bieber. Verlander is at the end of his career and far from the pitcher he once was and Bieber on the other hand is still young but has had a ton of injury problems over the last few years.
