The winds of change an uncertainty has been blowing through the clubhouse of the Toronto Blue Jays and it appears the team may be prepared to cut ties with veteran pitcher Chris Bassitt.
According to Zach Pressnell of Fansided predicts that the Blue Jays will not re sign Bassitt and let him head to free agency as the Blue Jays would likely redirect their money elsewhere as he is 36 years old.
Blue Jays pitching depth in the farm close to making their debut
"(Bassitt) is on the final year of his contract making over $22 million. This offseason, he'll likely be looking for another lucrative contract, but it won't come with the Blue Jays," Pressnell wrote.
Toronto has some solid pitching depth at the big league level and at the top of the minor leagues. The Blue Jays will likely be ready to promote top prospects Ricky Tiedemann, Jake Bloss, and Trey Yesavage by the beginning to middle of 2026." Zach Pressnell

Much will depend on what the Blue Jays do will be based on how their season transpires. If the Blue Jays have a strong season and are well within contention of the playoffs or at least in the fight, the team will likely keep Bassitt till the end of the season. Having veteran pitching during a playoff race is always something worth keeping.
However, if the Blue Jays are not in contention and have a dreadful season it's quite likely he will be traded at the July trade deadline to help recoup assets and continue to grow their depth in their minor system.
Bassitt hopes to improve from last season's numbers
Since being drafted in 2011 by the Chicago White Sox, Bassitt has played for several organizations including the Oakland Athletics, New York Mets and the Blue Jays. Throughout the bulk of his time with the athletics and his first season with Toronto his numbers have been solid and has been a great any eating pitcher.
Last season was one of the worst ERA's for Bassitt in quite some time as he had a record of 10-14 with an ERA of 4.16 and a WHIP of 1.46.
In his first game against the Baltimore Orioles this season, he had won the game with an ERA of 1.50 threw 6 innings of work allowing one run and had seven strikeouts.
His next start will be against the New York Mets in game two of their current series with hopes to continue his strong play from his previous start. Game time will be 7:10 PM on April 5th.
