Toronto Blue Jays prospect Alan Roden might end up taking George Springer's job

The Toronto Blue Jays have a good idea of what their roster will look like for the 2025 season but there are still some question marks which is where outfielder Alan Roden comes in.
The Blue Jays outfield still has some question marks despite adding Anthony Santander a few weeks ago since Daulton Varsho will miss the start of the season and George Springer has a horrific 2024 season.

Roden split his time between Double-A and Triple-A last season while being dominant at the plate in both leagues finishing with a combined 16 homeruns and 75 RBIs.
The Blue Jays are looking to keep adding offense for the 2025 season after how last year went and that is why Roden has a serious chance of making the team out of Spring Training as he is one of the Blue Jays best contact hitters.

"Despite his unusual swing, Roden is one of the Blue Jays' best contact hitters. He pairs excellent bat-to-ball skills with a selective approach bordering on passive. Roden projects to hit for a high average with high walk rates. His combination of contact and on-base ability drive his batting profile. In 2024, Roden flashed more game power, hitting a career high 16 home runs and posting strong quality-of-contact metrics. He does a lot of damage against breaking and offspeed pitches, slugging .528 in 2024 against non-fastballs."

The Blue Jays did add Santander this off-season but they are not sure yet if they will be using him in the outfield full time and with Varsho's injury, Roden could be his replacement for the start of the season.
On the other hand, Springer had an awful year last season and if he continues to do more of the same in 2025 they might look to replace him with Roden once Varsho is back in the lineup.
It will be interesting to see how things play out in the outfield to start the season.
