The Toronto Blue Jays projected contracted extension for Vladimir Guerrero Jr. has been announced and it could make team history as the largest contract ever signed.
MLB insider Joel Reuter believes that the Blue Jays will end up signing Guerrero to the largest contract in team history as he believes they will offer him a 10 year $320 million contract extension.
«Still only 25 years old, he is set to hit free agency after the 2025 season, so now is the time for the Blue Jays to strike if they want to hammer out an extension,» Rueter argued. «A 10-year, $320 million deal would be in line with the 10-year, $313.5 million extension Rafael Devers inked with the Boston Red Sox, and they are similar offense-first players who arrived in the majors at a young age and have developed into middle-of-the-order stars.»
While the Blue Jays have a ton of off-season decisions that need to be made if they really want to turn this team around in 2025, the top of the list should be securing Guerrero to a long term deal as he is their best player and the face of the franchise.
