The Toronto Blue Jays list of priorities for the off-season in terms of free agent signings has been leaked at the annual MLB GM meetings.
The Blue Jays have been clear that they plan on making a ton of changes and want to bring in many new players this off-season but have kept their list of priorities in terms of signing close to the vest until now.
Blue Jays list of priorities in terms of signings leaked at GM meetings
According to MLB insider Ben Nicholson-Smith, who is currently at the GM meetings in San Antonio, it seems like the list of Blue Jays priorities from this off-season are a corner outfielder, second baseman and third baseman, in that order.
Offensively, Blue Jays will stay flexible but people here at GM Meetings see the most likely spots for upgrade as corner OF, 2B & 3B in that order.
This is a solid plan in terms of what the Blue Jays need next season in terms of offense/defense since adding an outfielder, second or third baseman that could hit would be a huge plus.
Since they are still unsure who will be playing left field next season, it makes sense that the Blue Jays are seriously looking at options since if they do not find another player, they will end up with Nathan Lukes.
Second and Third base is a tricky situation since they have a ton of players that are capable of playing the position but none that should be consistent starters in the MLB apart from Ernie Clement who was nominated for a Gold Glove.
Clearly Atkins has a long list of things to do this off-season as the team needs a serious breath of fresh air and he will need to bring in some solid free agents to do that.
