Fans were panicking after Scherzer left the game yesterday and things only got worse as the pitcher confirmed that he will likely be out for a certain period of time with this injury.
After the game, Scherzer told reporters that he would do everything he can to properly fix this issue but would not be returning to the mound until it is fully healed once and for all.
Max Scherzer says the lat injury is 100% related to his thumb and he felt he would put himself in «imminent danger» if he kept pitching.

Scherzer added that he wants to pitch which is why he has been trying to force this recovery to pick up the pace and has been pitching but has no realized that he needs it to fully heal if he wants to play properly.
