It was announced yesterday the Toronto Blue Jays starting pitcher Chris BassItt along with his wife Jessica will be donating again to the Jays Care Foundation's RBI summer edition program this year.
This summer program is free and offers to complement summer school well helping children's mental and physical health in areas of Toronto that are under resourced.
«It's great. I think it's a safe space for kids, and for parents to know their children are in a good environment says a lot - especially with the state of the world right now,» said Jessica. «It's also just great for kids to be able to get together, see familiar faces, play with their friends, and be encouraged to be active.» Jessica Bassitt
Bassitt was drafted by the Chicago White Sox back in 2011, 16th round 501st overall. In 2024, he had a record of 10-14 with an ERA of 4.16 pitching 171 innings with 168 strikeouts with a WHIP of 1.46.

Blue Jays hope for strong season from Bassitt
The Blue Jays are hoping for a strong season from Bassitt as the team is looking to remove some doubt that has been lingering around the organization over the past number of weeks.
The team's starting rotation took a hit yesterday when veteran pitcher Max Scherzer was placed on 15 day IL as he continues to suffer from thumb soreness.
Bassitt pitched for six innings, allow me eight hits with one run and had seven strikeouts. The Blue Jays will now turn their attention to the Washington Nationals who will arrive for tomorrow's game and start a three-game series before the Blue Jays head on to an extended road trip.
First pitch will be thrown at 7:07 PM on March 31st.
