Toronto Blue Jays star pitcher Max Scherzer was placed on the injured list after he was forced to leave his game against the Baltimore Orioles on Saturday.

Scherzer will be on the list for 15 days as the 40-year-old continues to struggle with inflammation in his right thumb.

Scherzer frustrated with his Blue Jays chapter

Throughout spring training, Scherzer has been dealing with his thumb issues which has limited his ability to throw more than 80 pitches in a game. During Saturday's game, he was limited to 80 pitches but only through 45 before leaving the mound.
"[There was] imminent danger," Scherzer explained after he was removed from Saturday's game early (via Sportsnet). "This is 100% related to the thumb ... I'm frustrated. I want to pitch. I've got to get this 100% before I pitch again." Max Scherzer

According to Blue Jays manager John Schneider, Scherzer is expected to see a hand specialist see if treatment can be done to help speed up the healing process as Scherzer would like to get back to the mound as soon as possible.

Blue Jays recall Triple A Easton Lucas from Buffalo

After the announcement, the Blue Jays made a few roster moves as they have recalled Easton Lucas from the AAA Buffalo Bisons and will decide to move Lucas or reliever Yariel Rodriguez to the starting role.
"See where we land after today and the next couple games and go from there," Schneider told reporters Sunday. John Schneider

The Blue Jays have completed their first series of the new season where they have split two games apiece from the Baltimore Orioles.
The Blue Jays will welcome the Washington Nationals next for a three-game series before heading on the road for an extended road trip.
Their next game will take place on March 31st and game time will be 7:07 PM eastern
