The Toronto Blue Jays announced last night that they signed catcher Alejandro Kirk to a five year contract extension which has fans ecstatic.

Since the news broke last night, Blue Jays have been flooding social media praising the young Blue Jays catcher as they feel like this is an incredible deal for the team's future.

Even MLB insider Keegan Matheson pointed out how crucial this move is for the Blue Jays since they have very little catcher depth right now and Kirk is beloved by all of his teammates and fan base.
It is hard to look at this move and not praise Ross Atkins a bit for getting such a solid deal done with such a prominent piece of the roster.
The next issue for the Blue Jays catchers will be trying to find a solid option to pair with him because Tyler Heineman does not seem like a long term solution.
