The Toronto Blue Jays announced some major cuts today which included release pitcher Ryan Yarbrough into free agency.
Blue Jays pitcher Ryan Yarbrough has left the team
The Blue Jays were supposed to have
Yarbrough in the lineup this afternoon against the Pirates but it looks like they ended up releasing him into free agency instead as he is officially gone.
MLB insider Shi Davidi announced that the team had packed up Yarbrough's locker for him and despite the fact that he was supposed to be in the lineup today, they ended up releasing him.
The Blue Jays are not adding Ryan Yarbrough, who was slated to pitch today, but packed up his locker and left the PDC. He'll become a free agent at 2 pm ET.
This news came as quite a shock since most believed that the Blue Jays would end up putting Yarbrough on their 26 man roster since he has been so solid for them but it looks like they thought he should start the season in the minors which is why they released him.
Fans do not seem to be too happy with this move since Yarbrough was great for the Blue Jays last season and when they re-signed him late in the off-season most were very happy to have him back.
Not sure I agree with this at all
It will be interesting to see if this move ends up being a good one down the line or ends up costing the Blue Jays since they already have a lot of injuries in their bullpen.
