Toronto Blue Jays manager John Schneider spoke in a recent interview about why the team decided to option Addison Barger down to Triple-A.
The Blue Jays made a lot of surprising cuts for their Opening Day roster which included sending top prospect Addison Barger back down to Triple-A which had a lot of fans shocked.

The Blue Jays have officially put together there Opening Day roster are a long list of final cuts yesterday which had a few surprises such as Myles Straw, Alan Roden and Nathan Lukes.
Here's how the Blue Jays break on position player side:

Blue Jays manager John Schneider recently mentioned in an interview the reasoning behind optioning Barger which was apparently because Will Wagner and Ernie Clement were clearly at third base and if they kept Barger as an outfielder he would not play much.
Carrying Wagner/Roden made Addison Barger odd man out, said John Schneider. "With Will, with Ernie at third base, it turned Addie into more of an outfielder and then what would the playing time look like? We want him to be playing consistently with the strides that he's made."
When explained like that the move makes a lot of sense but at the same time the biggest issue with the outfield is still George Springer even though he still seems to be decent defensively, it is his hitting that is the real issue.
