The Toronto Blue Jays still seem unsure on how to approach the Max Scherzer situation but during an interview today, Scherzer made some very interesting comments.

The Blue Jays starting rotation needed helped this off-season which is why they decided to sign veteran pitcher Max Scherzer to a contract worth $15.5 million on a 1 year term.

Max Scherzer states in interview that the Blue Jays knew about his injury when they signed him

Fans were happy but also a little worried when the team signed Scherzer since he is currently 40 years old and has missed quite a few games over the last couple seasons due to injuries.
In a recent interview, Scherzer stated that he was upfront with the team about his thumb issues but that stem from last season before the Blue Jays signed him but added that everything else was in top shape.
«It's anybody's guess - I don't have the answer,» the veteran right-hander said after four shutout innings Saturday in a 2-1 win over the Minnesota Twins. «From the very beginning, in free agency, I said the only thing that's holding me back long-term here is the thumb.

If you're going to sign me, everything else is good, back is good, the only issue is my thumb. I thought I had addressed it. I thought I did enough grip-strength work to nip it in the bud, that we weren't going to have it. Unfortunately, it showed back up here in spring training." -Sherzer

The Blue Jays veteran pitcher also added that everyone keeps asking him question sbaout it but unfortunately he still does not have any answers as he is still looking for them with multiple doctors.
«Everybody's trying to figure out how to manage this, how to get around this, how to overcome this. I don't have the answers,» -Scherzer

Scherzer has proven that he can still pitch from how he has been playing so far in Spring Training but the issue here is longevity because if he pushes through the pain, no one knows how long he will last.
Hopefully by some miracle the Blue Jays doctors are able to finally figure out what the issue is but it does not seem likely for the moment.
