After a disappointing and quiet offseason, the Toronto Blue Jays have opened their wallets and landed outfielder Anthony Santander to a five year deal worth $92.5 million which leaves three priorities still to be done for the team prior to Spring Training.

Firstly, the Blue Jays have signalled to their young star Vladimir Guerrero junior that the team has no desire to rebuild anytime soon and has given him a one-year extension a few weeks ago.

Several moves to consider prior to the start of Spring Training

With Santander now locked in, it's time the Blue Jays award the money to Guerrero Jr and sign him to a long-term deal as he will be the future of this organization.
If that is indeed the case, then one of their immediate main priorities that they should deal with right now should be locking up their face of the franchise in Vladimir Guerrero Jr.

Guerrero Jr has made it clear that he wants to remain with the Blue Jays for the long haul And this new signing certainly will give more incentive to get a deal done as it will solidify some of the Blue Jays offense.
It appears that he is asking the Jays for no less than $450 million in his new contract and it remains to be seen on whether the team will give him what he wants.
The appetite for general manager Ross Atkins to keep the momentum going and try to find another superstar is certainly on his mind as it appears the Blue Jays are trying to lock in former New York Mets first baseman Pete Alonso.
The Blue Jays can become the AL East front-runner if they add Pete Alonso and Alex Bregman

The Jays have also looked at Alex Bregman as another option to bring into the team who would help augment their offence and potentially be a better choice as it would keep Guerrero Jr on first base where he seems to be more comfortable and Bregman can man the third base while giving the Jays another heavy bat and give their offence a more lethal attack.
By signing Bregman, not only would you have two Gold Glovers playing at their respective award-winning positions but added to three-time Gold Glove winner Giménez at second base as well, the Jays could suddenly have one of the best defensive infields in all of baseball. - Edward Eng Jays Journal

Blue Jays need another starting pitcher for 2025

And lastly, the Blue Jays we'll need to add another starter to their pitching rotation as it may be important to strengthen the bullpen by moving Yariel Rodriguez to the relief spot and looking for a potential other starter.
One starter that's been mentioned is Jack Flaherty as he is one of the last remaining starters available on the free market.
However, the team should relish having the flexibility of moving Rodrguez to the bullpen to strengthen their relief corps while adding a pitcher that can move the needle to their rotation in the process. - Edward Eng Jays Journal

He holds some value as he is only 29 years old and still has many years ahead of him that could help the Jays in the long run and deepen their starting rotation which is a position no one should ever sacrifice.
In the end it will come down to what Atkins can do and it's clear that Rogers communications have given the green light to spend more money.
Perhaps signing Santander was the first domino to fall and to open the gridlock that has been plaguing the Blue Jays all offseason which gives fans hope that they may be able to augment their team with the remaining stars left available.
