Over the past couple of weeks, Myles Straw has been turning heads with his play as the non roster invitee for the Blue Jays has had a hot start.

Straw Was involved with the trade between the Cleveland Guardians and the Blue Jays as the team was attempting to acquire pitching phenom Roki Sasaki as Straw's five-year $25 million contract was added along with international bonus money to
attempt to acquire the pitcher.

The Blue Jays were unable to acquire Sasaki, the team decided to keep Straw in their system and has been a pleasant surprise for manager John Schneider along with his coaching staff as he has shown far better performance at the plate.
While Myles Straw may just be a Non-Roster Invitee for the Blue Jays this spring, he's still found a way to turn some heads.

While Straw's won a Gold Glove, he's run into struggles at the plate. He hit just .238 in 2023 (his last full MLB season) and has a career OPS+ of 76. Yet, he leads the Blue Jays with six RBI this spring to go along with a 6-for-13 (.462) showing at the plate. Baron Dionis

He also has only struck out once through his entire spring training and hit a home run against the Tigers where the Blue Jays won 13-3.

Competition may be brewing for spots with Blue Jays

The Blue Jays need another bat and if Straw can become that bat or some resemblance of a consistent hitter, this will benefit the Blue Jays exponentially as the team had been looking through free agency over the winter to sign another bat.
While he only had an OPS of .597 in 2023, he stole 20 bases which is evidence of his blistering speed on the base paths and in the field. Additionally, Straw struck out at a 14.6 percent clip that season, which is another offensive trait that works in his favor. Baron Dionis
The Blue Jays will likely find a spot for Straw as they could see him as a pinch runner, an active base stealer along with the defensive replacement.
It's safe to say quite a bit must go right for Straw to be very effective, but at $25
million and the Blue Jays needing help on their offence, this could be a pleasant surprise and a shot in the arm to help boost their production and give them more flexibility pit
