The Blue Jays have been making a ton of minor league moves this off-season after acquiring quite a few players at the Rule 5 Draft earlier this week, they have also signed quite a few pitchers.
The Blue Jays sign former Padres pitcher Bobby Milacki to a minor league deal
MLB insider Shi Davidi just announced that the Blue Jays have agreed to a minor league deal with former Padres pitcher Bobby Milacki but there has been no update on if he will receive a major league Spring Training invitation as well.
Blue Jays and righty reliever Bobby Milacki have a minor-league deal. Son of former big-leaguer Bob Milacki. In 55 IP over 31 games between double- and triple-A with Padres last year, the 28-year-old struck out 49, walked just 13.
The 28 year old pitcher showed a lot of promise last season in his time split between Double-A and Triple-A as he had a 3.13 ERA in Double-A last season with 41 strikeouts in 46 innings pitched.
However, things went pretty poorly in Triple-A as he only pitched 9 innings with a 13.00 ERA with 8 strikeouts in that time but it looks like the Blue Jays are hoping he could build off of his Double-A numbers.
Milacki is also the son of Bob Milacki who played in the MLB as a pitcher for 9 seasons across 5 teams with his biggest career achievement coming in 1991 when he was part of a combined no-hitter.
While the Blue Jays seem to be making a lot of minor league moves, they have been slow on the major league deals front as they have yet to make a move since trading for Andres Gimenez earlier this week.
Fans are still hoping for the Blue Jays will be able to land ace free agent pitcher Corbin Burnes but it looks like he is holding out to see if his childhood team the San Francisco Giants will raise their offer.
