The Toronto Blue Jays currently rank in shocking positions when it comes to their hitting
The Toronto Blue Jays have shocked the MLB so far this season as they have jumped to one of the best offenses in the league.
One of the Blue Jays biggest moves this off-season was bringing in their new hitting coach David
Popkins who seems to have completely turn the team's hitting around with players like Andres Gimenez and George Springer.
Blue Jays ranked as one of the best offenses in baseball
Last season the Blue Jays were one of the worst teams at the plate as they ranked 23rd in runs scored and RBIs, 26th in homeruns and 19th in batting average which is why they brought in Popkins during the off-season.
For the past couple of seasons, the Toronto Blue Jays have been notorious for having an inept offense. Last year, the Blue Jays finished 23rd in league in runs scored (671) and RBIs (640), 26th in home runs (156) and 19th in batting average (.241). -Eng
Popkins has clearly been incredible for the Blue Jays so far this season as they currently ranked third in doubles, fourth in BABIP, seventh in batting average, eighth in hits and 11th in OPS.
The Blue Jays entered Friday third in baseball in doubles (17), fourth in BABIP (.323), seventh in batting average (.268), eighth in hits (69) and on-base percentage (.338), 11th in OPS (.739), 12th in runs scored (32), 13th in RBIs (29) and 14th in slugging percentage (.401). -Eng
This is an incredible transition for the Blue Jays in such a short period of time as
Popkins took players that most thought has no offensive productivity in them and made them solid hitters.
If the Blue Jays can continue to produce at this pace throughout the entire season, they have a very good chance at finishing first in the American League East, especially if their pitching delivers as well.
Should be interesting to see how the Blue Jays offense does over a bigger sample size since the season just started.
