It appears that the Chicago Cubs who have been rumored heavily around Vladimir Guerrero junior may be out of the running after reports have surfaced of a potential deal between the Toronto Blue Jays and Guerrero junior nearing the finish line.

The Cubs have been looking for an offensive piece to add to their lineup and were
prepared to wait till free agency to make their pitch to sign Guerrero Jr to a contract.

Blue Jays appear to be closing in on mega deal with Guerrero Jr

The news continues to swirl around the Toronto Blue Jays organization that a mega deal between Guerrero junior and the team may be almost completed.
The latest reports said that the Blue Jays have offered him a 14-year contract that would be worth $505 million and if he would win the American League MVP the contract would jump to $550 million Which would have an average per year of
$36.07 million per season.
Jorge Castillo of ESPN spoke to Guerrero, and he reported that he was unaware of what was happening behind the scenes regarding contract talks and would rather focus on playing the game.
Clapz23 just told me Vladdy and the Jays have a deal at 14/505 with escelators for winning AL MVP that could take it to $550MM. Boy I sure hope he's right!

"Well, until now, I don't know anything. I've always tried to talk to my agent and I've always left that to my agent. I focus on playing. Until now, I don't know what you're talking about," Guerrero said, according to Jorge Castillo of ESPN.

Blue Jays fans and team would like to have this settled

It's clear that Blue Jays fans along with the organization and Guerrero junior would rather see this contract settled and have him with the team long term.
People close to the situation are telling me this: Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and the Toronto Blue Jays have made a lot of progress towards a 500 million dollars deal. ¿Time frame? 14 years. The announcement could be done soon. Looks like Vladi Jr. is staying in Toronto long term.

He has made it clear that he would like to remain a blue Jay for his entire career and over the past couple of weeks, the tone of discussions between both president mark Shapiro to the media and Guerrero himself appear to be softening as both sides would like to sign a deal.
So far this season Guerrero has been at bat 35 times, with no home runs, 4 RBI's and batting an average of .286 and an OBP of .350 and an OPS of .721.
Across Major League Baseball, general managers will be monitoring the situation in Toronto and whether Guerrero junior may not be available sooner rather than later.
