The Toronto Blue Jays are still looking to make some big moves this off-season even though time is running out and it looks like they are interested in their former shortstop Paul DeJong.

While the Blue Jays infield is pretty lock and loaded for the 2025 season, they team is still looking at all options after it was reported that Bo Bichette has no interest in signing a new contract with the Blue Jays next off-season.

The Blue Jays are interested in signing their former shortstop Paul DeJong

In a recent report, MLB reporter Ryan Finkelstein stated that he believes that free agent shortstop Paul DeJong is interested in returning to the Blue Jays instead of heading back to the Kansas City Royals.
However, Ryan Finkelstein of Just Baseball predicts that DeJong will jump ship and join a former team in the Toronto Blue Jays.

"DeJong is not a perfect player (32.4% K-rate in 2024), but he's at least a quality big leaguer who could help most teams in the infield next season," Finkelstein wrote.

While DeJong is not the player he was when he was voted an all-star in 2019, he had a great bounce back year in 2024 split between the White Sox and Royals where he finished with 24 homeruns and 56 RBIs on the season.
DeJong was an All-Star in 2019 with the St. Louis Cardinals, who traded him to the Blue Jays at the deadline in 2023. Last year, he hit just .227 but also hit 24 home runs and drove in 56 runs. -Bishop

If the Blue Jays end up unable to get something done with Bichette, DeJong could be a great back up option as he would bring some decent offense to the lineup.
DeJong's last stint with the Blue Jays did not go great as he only lasted 13 games before being DFA'd but after last year, he might be worth taking a shot at for next season.
While the Blue Jays main focus is still trying to land Pete Alonso and Max Scherzer, DeJong could be a decent backup option now that Jurickson Profar has signed with the Atlanta Braves.
