The Toronto Blue Jays are still looking to add a starting pitcher to improve their rotation for the upcoming season and report suggest that they are closing in on Andrew Heaney.

The Blue Jays have come close on multiple occasions to signing incredible pitchers this off-season such as Corbin Burnes and Max Fried, they unfortunately failed but they are still looking to add another pitcher.

The Blue Jays are apparently closing in on $21 million deal with former Rangers pitcher Andrew Heaney

The Blue Jays seem to have a lot of interest in free agent Max Scherzer but he has made it clear he wants to play for a winner and if the Blue Jays are unable to land Pete Alonso, he does not have any interest in the Blue Jays.
According to MLB reporter Kerry Miller, the Blue Jays seem to be one of the top landing spots for Heaney and it would likely be a deal that floats around $21 million.

The exact terms of the possible contract have yet to be announced but it looks like whether Heaney signs with the Blue Jays or another team, the deal will be close to $21 million.
The free agent pitcher market is now very slim this late in the off-season and Heaney who has been quite all winter is starting to gain some traction as both the San Diego Padres and Blue Jays could be interested.
"(A) little handedness diversity in the rotation is nice to have, and both the Blue Jays and the Padres need at least one more starting pitcher and no current left-handed options with any big league experience," Miller wrote. "There has been virtually no news this offseason about Andrew Heaney's free agency, but he would seem to be a good fit with either of those teams." -Miller

Heaney is far from the ace the Blue Jays were looking for earlier this off-season but has put up consistent numbers throughout his career with an ERA just above 4.00 and finishing the 2024 season with a 4.28 ERA.
Heaney posted a 4.28 ERA in 160 innings last season. -Pressnell
