Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Myles Straw spoke to reporters this morning about how everything went down when he was traded by the Cleveland Guardians.

The Blue Jays made a few trades this off-season the two biggest were with the Cleveland Guardians as they acquired both Straw and Andres Gimenez in two different transactions.

The Blue Jays agreed to a trade for Myles Straw during the off-season which also included a lot of international bonus pool money that they were trying to use of international free agent Roki Sasaki which ended up failing.

During a recent interview, Straw spoke about the trade that took him by shock this off-season but did mention how he was happy to get a fresh start after a tough season in 2024.
«I was shocked, and pretty excited about it,» Straw told Sportsnet. «New beginnings are always nice, especially with this team. I think it's a fantastic team to be playing for, and I'm looking forward to the opportunity.» -Straw

While Straw is still not on the Blue Jays 40 man roster, he has been having a great Spring Training so far which is why many believe that he will end up landing a spot especially since outfielder Daulton Varsho is still out.
A month and a half later, Straw is making a strong impression in Blue Jays camp with a .474 batting average and strong defence through nine Grapefruit League games. He's not on the team's 40-man roster, which makes his path to a roster spot more challenging, but with Daulton Varsho still rehabbing from shoulder surgery, it's possible Straw will be needed sooner rather than later. -Nicholson-Smith

This trade that was seen as a big flop with Sasaki signing with the Los Angeles Dodgers might end up turning into an incredible steal for the Blue Jays if Straw continues to perform at the same level.
