The New York Yankees are in the hot water over the last 24 hours after MLB insider Jon Heyman released a story that the Yankees security guard mistreated the Soto family on multiple occasions.
Yankees in hot water after a story was released of them mistreating Juan Soto's family
According to a recent report, Soto decided to not go with the Yankees in free agency after having a negative feeling with them after his parents were mistreated by a security guard during the season.
Juan Soto had 'negative feelings' about an incident where Yankees security removed one of his parents from an area in Yankee Stadium earlier this year
MLB insider Jon Heyman confirmed that a security guard kicked out Soto's parent out of a certain area in Yankee Stadium in April or May then the same security guard made his driver and chef wait for him in the rain.
Heyman says apparently a Yankees security guard booted Soto's mom or dad from an area in the stadium in April or May, and there were some negative feelings about it; then the same guy threw out Soto's driver & chef later in the year and they had to wait out in the rain
This seems to have sat on Soto's conscious when it came time to make his decision on top of the fact that the Yankees did not want to give his family a suite in which Steve Cohen and the Mets offered in their deal.
The Yankees «wouldn't budge» on including a suite at Yankee Stadium in Juan Soto's contract, especially because Aaron Judge and Derek Jeter pay for theirs.
Steve Cohen included one at Citi Field in his Mets contract.
This is not a good look for the Yankees staff as they not only mistreated their best players family but this move cost them his return.
